Some distillers like a flame. Others want a dial. This electric heating element kit comes with an adjustable temperature controller and plugs your copper still into a wall outlet. There's no open flame and no propane. If you treat each run as a controlled experiment, steady heat is the easiest variable to lock down.
Where It Lands on Our Lists
- By size: 110v for stills up to 6 gallons; 220v for stills 10 gallons and up.
- By budget: from $349.
- By heat source: electric, with the same heat output every run.
- By use: hobby distillers who want a simple, clean setup, and bigger stills that need faster heat-up.
Choose Your Voltage
The 110v element plugs into a standard household outlet and suits smaller setups. The 220v element is rated at 3800W and runs on a 220v circuit, the kind a dryer or range uses. It's recommended for stills from 10 to 50 gallons. For stills over 60 gallons, two 220v elements give the fastest heating.
